So each week I will tackle a question. Have a question about natural health? Send me an email!
So. What is in your water? What source do you get your water from? Is it filtered, tap, Reverse osmosis, bottled? There are so many choices and a ton of information out there about water. Over the course of my training, I found many truths about water. Hydration with clean, chemical free water is one of the core Foundations of Health. Let’s talk about the worst offender in our water, and how to mitigate and eliminate it. But first.
What is Water?
Water is what’s known as a solvent. It is the medium by with we detoxify. It helps your body maintain a normal temperature, lubricates joints and helps your organs get rid of waste products. There are almost too many functions to mention on why clean water is so important to our health and well-being. Another fact, water makes up around 60 percent of our body weight. Without it, your body would basically shut down.
Now that you have the very basics of water. What should you look for in the water you drink at home?
https://www.ewg.org/ is a great resource and website that can show you some of the potentially toxic chemicals in your tap water.
One of the worst chemicals to look for:
Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS)
Status: No national drinking water standard exists
Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) is a member of a group of perfluorinated chemicals used in many consumer products. PFOS and other perfluorinated chemicals can cause serious health effects, including cancer, endocrine disruption, accelerated puberty, liver and immune system damage, and thyroid changes. These chemicals are persistent in the environment and they accumulate in people.
What can I use to lower or get rid of this PFOS?

You can easily buy a Drinking water test kit on Amazon. They are easy to use and can give you much needed insight into what is in your water. Reverse osmosis systems can be expensive. But if you have to means, Do it! On the more affordable side there are many options. There are table top can filters such as the Waterdrop gravity system. This sits on your counter top and offers not only carbon type filtration, but also can be outfitted with a fluoride filter as well. No electricity required.
